DPRK's 78th Birthday Celebrated

Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- All the people across the country significantly celebrated the 78th founding anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, their beloved motherland.

An endless stream of visitors flew into the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, the eternal leaders of the Party and the people, lie in state.

At the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the visitors paid the highest tribute to the great leaders, the founder and builder of the glorious DPRK.

Officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students visited the statues of the peerlessly great leaders and the mosaics depicting them on Mansu Hill and in other parts of the country to lay flower baskets, bouquets and flowers before them.

At the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong, the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery, other martyrs cemeteries, memorial towers for the fallen soldiers of the Korean People's Army and cemeteries of fallen fighters in different parts of the country, the visitors deeply grasped the noble spirit and moral world of the anti-Japanese revolutionary martyrs, patriotic martyrs and fallen fighters of the KPA who dedicated themselves to the struggle for national liberation and prosperity.

There took place national flag-hoisting ceremonies in different parts of the country.

At the venue for the national sculpture and craftwork festival opened on the occasion of the national day, the visitors keenly felt the mightiness of their great country and the boundless pride of being citizens of the dignified DPRK.

Meetings between meritorious persons of socialist patriotism and youth and students took place in North Hwanghae, Kangwon and North Hamgyong provinces, Nampho Municipality, etc.

At story-telling and oratorical meetings of working people and youth and students held in different parts of the country, the participants expressed their will to devote their wisdom, strength and enthusiasm to the prosperity of the country, sharing their destiny with it.

Performances were given in Pyongyang and local areas, adding pleasure to the significant holiday.

The festive mood of the national day was revved up by the cheerful dancing parties of youth and students and members of the women's union held in different parts of the country.

On the same day, public catering establishments in Pyongyang and all other parts of the country, including Okryu Restaurant, Phyongnam Noodle House and Sinhung Restaurant in Hamhung, were full of visitors receiving holiday service.

Leisure complexes, including the Central Zoo, the Natural History Museum and the Munsu Water Park, were overflowing with working people and schoolchildren enjoying the holiday. -0-
